It’s official; autumn has arrived and, so far, we are LOVING it. From chunky knits to cosy nights in with a hot chocolate, the colder weather certainly has its benefits! If you’re looking to change up your style, then this is the perfect time as the change of seasons truly sets in. Get rid of the winter blues and treat yourself to a fresh do at our hair salon in Barnstaple! We’ve put together a list of a few of our favourite trends for 2017 that might give you a little inspiration:

Glossy Brunettes

As if being a glossy brunette ever goes out of fashion! With the summer having come to a close, many women are beginning to set the balayage and ombre aside, instead opting for an all over warm chocolate brown. There’s something about the sheen of a brunette that screams elegance, and the darker tones are perfect for the fresh season. For those who currently have a mixture of blonde and brown tones, why not opt for a few low lights in a rich brown to bring warmth and shine to your locks?

The Flat Wave

The flat wave is a craze that everyone can embrace. It goes along with an effortless/au natural theme and is the perfect trend for those rainy days. The flat wave is the new season version of beachy curls, with a less defined finish paired with a glossy sheen. Get your hair in tiptop condition and embrace those natural waves in your hair!

Millennial Pink

Pantone’s colour of the year for 2016, millennial pink, has not stepped down from the limelight just yet. This colour is everywhere, and we LOVE it. Whether you’re picking it for a shade of lipstick, eyeshadow, blush or even for your hair, this colour is so versatile and feminine. Pastel pinks may be strongly associated with the warmer seasons, but a splash of perfect pink might be just the colour you need to brighten up the darker days.

Braids for Days

Braids have to be one of the hottest trends of 2017; we’ve seen them everywhere, paired with glitter, in a sleek up-do or with several braiding techniques combined to create an interesting and textural finish. No need to worry girls; the braids are here to stay this autumn/winter season. Don’t let the weather dictate your style, as a simple plait with a spritz of hairspray will stand the test of time through (almost) any storm!

Effortless Elegance

The au natural trend is one that will never fade, and this summer, bare-faced and natural waves were all the craze. This is set to continue throughout the colder months of the year, with a focus on rigorous skincare routines for a healthy, radiant finish. Ditch the heavy eye make-up on the daily and opt for a quick swipe of mascara plus brows for an easy everyday option.

The Bold Lip

A bold lip is a perfect statement for this season, particularly when toning down the eye makeup. Pick a vibrant shade of orange, or red or a deep dark burgundy to be bang on trend. This will bring a splash of colour to your face and help you to reach the top level of confidence. You can utilise this trend for the everyday looks, a brunch with the girls, for a heavy night out or wherever you may be heading!

Full Fringe

A cold-weather classic is, of course, the full fringe, and September/October is the time to take the jump. Although a flyaway fringe is not ideal in windy weather, the look just screams autumn and can be plaited away if you don’t want it blown away. A full fringe looks fab with a hat and scarf or standing along and can frame your face to perfection.

If you’re looking to refresh your style this season, why not pop into the salon and discuss your options with one of our stylists? We can help you to pick out the perfect cut and colour to suit your needs, along with the products to take home to keep it in peak condition!
