Simple Bridesmaid’s Hairstyles

Your wedding day is one of the most important occasions in your life, and every inch of the day should be arranged down to a T. From your dress and your makeup to your venue and catering, the planning process should be meticulous to ensure that you have everything exactly how you imagined it to be. Although as a bride the importance is placed on you, your team of bridesmaids should also be feeling and looking their best. With their dresses hand-picked to fit the colour scheme and theme of your wedding, as well as to perfectly compliment your dress, their hair and makeup should be as carefully selected too. Below, we’ve included a few of our favourite hairstyles that are wonderful options for bridesmaids-to-be!

French Chignon Braid

This look uses French braids to create a classic up-do that keeps hair pulled off the faces of your bridesmaids. Keeping the hair up and off the back of the neck during the summer months will keep them slightly cooler in the warm heat too, and prevents over-touching of the hair, which can lead to differences in their ‘do’s when it comes to pictures.

Step one

Create a deep side parting before French braiding the hair to the back of the head. Once complete, use a bobby pin to secure and prevent it from falling out.

Step two

Repeat on the other side.

Step three

With the loose hair at the back, begin to tease to create some volume.

Step four

Gather the hair together at the nape of the neck before rolling it upwards. Finally, twist the hair into a bun before pinning in place.

Waterfall braid

A waterfall braid is a timeless look that looks perfect when accompanied with some loose curls. The soft appearance of this braid gives a romantic feel and is an easy style that can be done on most hair types.

Step one

On the side of your parting, begin a French braid.

Step two

As you begin to plait, take hair from the top of the head and incorporate in into the middle strand of the plait.

Step three

With the right hand strand, drop the hair before picking up the section of hair that was directly behind it. This strand should be placed into the middle of the braid.

Step four

Continue following the above steps until you reach the other side of the head.

Step five

Use bobby pins to secure.

Half up, half down

This look will no doubt make your bridesmaids feel every inch of royalty, as this is a hairstyle favoured by Kate Middleton. This is an easy style which takes less than ten minutes and should stay put well into the night!

Step one

Lightly curl the ends of your hair with a thick curling wand. The bigger the barrel, the bigger the curl, so work out what works best for you and your bridesmaids and select a wand accordingly!

Step two

Create a section at the top of the hair near to the crown and tease it back, creating volume. This will create a bouffant style which you can then secure with two bobby pins.

Step three

Select a side to begin with. Now, leaving a section of hair at the front of your head, pull the section back and across while twisting. This should then be pinned in place.

Step four

Repeat step three on the other side of your head.

Step five

On the side that you started with, take a section from underneath the original one and follow the same movement as in step three.

Step six

Repeat step five on the other side.
